Parklands derives its name from the way that the suburb has a myriad of landscaped parks scattered in and around Parklands in order to promote low density housing, minimal roads and plenty of closes joined by the parks attracting families and children to play safely in this suburb.

Parklands caters for all the residents' requirements, its slogan "Live, Work, Play" says it all, offering an abundance of shopping centres, schools, medical practices and a plentiful supply of local businesses, not to mention an eclectic collection of homes to suit everyone's needs.

'PARKLANDS', an initiative and Joint Venture through The ASKA Property Group and The Milnerton Estates Limited, was launched in July of 1997. Having up to seven new families a week moving into Parklands, this new suburb boasted being the fastest developing residential area in the country and was releasing plots in the region of seven hundred a month to local developers and private home builders.

More recently, this number has dwindled to a staggering seven hundred a year, up until August 2003, whereby the releasing of land from ASKA to any consumer has totally dissipated. Explaining this outcome is the apparent lack of and the need to upgrade the current inadequate sewerage facilities in order to accommodate the large number of families moving into the Parklands area.
